  4. I’m just so worried that one day, I’m going to lift my foot off the brake, and the car will roll straight through the garage door. “It’s not going to happen,” the thirteen-year-old says to me.

  5. Oh boy, tree work up on the knoll.

  6. Her face and her voice. I miss her. But there is this kind of time together talking about writing and not writing.

  7. Mock-ups!

  8. Exhausted.

  9. I guess it was enough for four.

  10. “We would have been even earlier if it hadn’t taken mom so long to get out of the driveway. We sat there for like, four minutes.”
